Most people sell a home, rent out a property or buy from an owner only a few times in their lives. The information they need is scattered, the jargon is thick, and the default answer is to hand over a large percentage of the deal. We think owners should get to choose: do it yourself, buy only the help you need, or hire full service — with clear numbers in front of you.

What we offer

• A free owner-to-owner marketplace for homes, rentals, vacation homes, land, vehicles, boats and RVs, and businesses — every listing reviewed by a person.
• Practical guides written in plain English and checked against official sources such as the IRS, EPA, CFPB, FTC and HUD.
• Free calculators for commission savings, net proceeds, mortgages, affordability, rentals, rent vs. buy and closing costs.
• On-demand pros — flat-fee MLS brokers, attorneys, title companies, inspectors, lenders and photographers — only when you ask.

How we make money

We believe you should know exactly how a free site pays its bills:

1. Advertising — including Google AdSense ads, clearly separated from our content.
2. Optional listing upgrades — Featured and Spotlight placements.
3. Sponsorships and flat-fee advertising from service providers. Providers never pay us a share of your sale, and sponsors never edit our guides.
4. Reader support — contributions from people who find the site useful.

We never charge owners a commission.

Editorial independence

Our guides are written and reviewed by our editorial team. Advertisers and partners can’t buy coverage, change our conclusions or see articles before publication. When content is sponsored, it’s labeled. If we get something wrong, we fix it — send a correction.

What we are not

ByOwners.com is not a real estate brokerage, lender, law firm, escrow agent or dealer. We don’t represent buyers or sellers, hold deposits, or give legal, tax or financial advice. For those, we help you find licensed professionals.
